90s Fashion - About 90s fashion trends and 90s fashion statements
90’s fashion was the witness of a wide plethora of fashion trends and
fads, from the somewhat bizarre to the revival of the seventies, the
nineties was the decade that had them all.

The decade started off with the Grunge look which was influenced by the
grunge style of music and bands which popularized it. It consisted of
flannel shirt, plaid and slashed jeans and a general unkempt sort of
look. 90’s fashion was also about Goth fashion which was a natural
evolution of the punk fashion of the late eighties. This look would
often solicit quite a few glares on the street because it was mostly
about creating a sense of mostly false drama, black being the general
uniform of Goths.

Much of 90’s fashion was so deeply influenced by the media of the time
that it’s quite hard if not impossible to separate one from another. One
cannot consider grunge without bands like Nirvana or Alice in Chains,
nor the other way around. MTV was at its height of popularity and
influencing power and it used it to expose a whole generation of young
people to crazy ways of dressing, whether it was Goth, hip-hop or
heavy-metal and hard rock. In the end, this period remains one of the
most memorable decades when it comes to the appearance of new fashion
styles and music icons. |
